The datasets behind this site, as JSON
Every ranking and review reads from these files. Journalists, researchers and other sites are welcome to use them, with a link back as the source.
/api/providers.json
23 providers: ownership, jurisdiction, intelligence alliance, audits, plans with renewal prices, protocols, features, streaming and country status, App Store IDs, verification level and sources. Our own test results are included only where our_testing.status is tested.
/api/ownership.json
50 parent companies, the VPN brands and review sites each owns, headquarters, and sources.
ownership.json/api/appstore.json
This month's App Store review analysis summary for every tracked iOS app: score, rating, sample size, critical-complaint rate, flags.
appstore.json/llms.txt
A plain-text map of the site for AI assistants: what is here that is not elsewhere, how to cite it, and every ranking, review and dataset with its URL. Regenerated on each build from the same catalogue the pages read.
llms.txtTerms
Reuse, including commercial reuse, is allowed on one condition: each use links to https://vpnandprivacy.com as the source. Records marked needs_primary_source_check are research-grade, not confirmed; treat them accordingly and tell us if you confirm or refute one.
Schema
Provider records validate against a JSON Schema published in the site's repository. Field meanings are documented inline in the schema. Breaking changes will be versioned under a new path; this path stays stable.
Embeddable badge
Providers and bloggers may embed a live "score on vpnandprivacy.com" badge that links back to the review. It is a static SVG per provider at /badge/{slug}.svg, regenerated on each build, with no tracking.
